AFI Fest Indie Contenders Roundtable – November 9th, 2014

AFI Fest/The Hollywood Reporter’s Indie Contenders Roundtable (November 9, 2014) at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Los Angeles.

A 90-minute conversation moderated by THR’s Scott Feinberg with:
Kristen Stewart, Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Marion Cotillard, Bill Hader, Michelle Monaghan, Damien Chazelle and J.C. Chandor

The Hollywood Reporter : Were it not for her Twilight fame Kristen Stewart would still be celebrated as an indie film darling following hits like Still Alice. At the AFI Fest Indie Contenders Panel, Stewart said that both indies and tentpoles have their virtues. “You’re always going to want a huge launching pad for what you poured your life’s energy and soul and heart into, but there is also something that feels cool about the outsider factor of, not everybody loves what we’re doing but the few that do are brothers, do you know what I mean? It feels great to go to Sundance. It’s fun. That’s why I make movies.”

Held Nov. 9 at Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel, the panel hosted by The Hollywood Reporter’s Scott Feinberg, also featured Marion Cottilard (Two Days, One Night), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), Tilda Swinton (Snowpiercer), Michelle Monaghan (Fort Bliss), Damien Chazelle (Whiplash), J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year), and Bill Hader (The Skeleton Twins).

Stewart, described by Feinberg as one of the “indie queens,” rejected George Clooney’s idea of the “one for them, one for me” approach — alternating indies and studio films. “I’m genuinely very much blown with the wind, I follow the gut. It’s not a tactical approach. I can greenlight a movie now that I’ve done five Twilight movies, but I just think it’s doing things for the right reason. There’s no way to quantify it. Even if something doesn’t completely equal success, if you don’t go, this script and director and cast and budget [spell success], I’m fully willing to hop on something if I’m interested in one person who’s involved in it, or one line that my character says that I’ve always been dying to say — it’s like, I will make a bad movie. Because it’s like, I’m like, whatever — I didn’t make it myself!”

Feinberg asked each panelist what advice they would give their younger selves starting out in the business. “Just relax, dude, chill out,” said Stewart. “I would love to go back then and tell my little self, ‘Don’t be that scared,'” said Cottilard. “Whatever happens, even the worst things, will make you who you are.” Said Hader, “When I was 20 I was a PA for a long time, I drove the evil sensei in Karate Kid. I made a little movie and my friends were like, ‘That sucks.'” Hader wants to tell his young self, “Just relax, it’s great to fail.”

Hader’s story prompted Gyllenhaal to offer his young self this advice: “Be careful what you say, because Bill Hader might be driving you.”

Kristen at the ‘Camp X-Ray’ NYC Screening Masterpost – October 6th, 2014

Kristen was at the ‘Camp X-Ray’ NYC Screening tonight, and she was gorgeous ! I’ve added 263 HQ pictures. Keep checking the gallery, I am adding new pictures as they are coming in. Kristen was wearing a J. Mendel S/S 2015 mini dress, with Louboutin shoes, and she also was still wearing her wabi sabi necklace.

Access Hollywood : This morning, some coworkers and I were looking at photos of Kristen Stewart at Monday night’s New York premiere of her film “Camp X-Ray” and one woman brought up how beautiful she is.

We then agreed that her eye makeup, in particular, was pretty gorgeous.

Makeup Artist Jillian Dempsey: “My inspiration for Kristen’s makeup came from her new haircut, along with her short beaded dress. I wanted to play up her eyes, so I went for an edgy, sultry vibe by mixing charcoals and a shimmery aquamarine shade.”

Foundation: CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Sunscreen Makeup SPF 15 in 40 Beige was used as the base (all make up is by CHANEL unless otherwise stated) and then I followed with Lift Lumière Smoothing and Rejuvenating Eye Contour Concealer under her eyes. To give her a clean, smooth look, I finished with a light application of Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Color Powder in No. 20.

Blush: On her cheekbones, I gently brushed Powder Blush in Fandango and to contour, I used the middle shade from Limited Edition Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-Colour SPF 15 in No. 01.

Eyes: I started by covering her lid with the off-black shade from the Quadra Eye Shadow in Smoky Eyes. Then in the outer corners of her eyes I applied the dark, shimmery teal shade from the Quadra Eye Shadow in Fascination. Next, I used the light blue/green shade from the same palette for the inner corners and lower lash line of her eyes. I used Jillian Dempsey Kohl Eyeliner in Jet Black along her upper lash line and blended it towards the outer corners of her eyes. I curled her lashes and then applied several coats of Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir to the top and bottom lashes, making special emphasis on the top outer lashes.

Brows: To define her eyebrows, I used Crayon Sourcils Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Brun Cendré.

Lips: Precision Lip Definer in Beige Satin was used to line her lips and I then applied Limited Edition Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Précieuse.

Glamour : Last time we talked about Kristen Stewart here, she was rocking carrot-colored hair—but now she’s back to brunette and was showing off an updated short haircut and seriously sexy makeup at last night’s NYC premiere of Camp X-Ray.

Celebrity hairstylist Giannandrea shared the scoop behind Kristen’s latest haircut, which she describes as a “freshly razored short chopped edgy bob”. “I wanted to give Kristen a chic and effortlessly stylish new cut, something to perfectly reflect her personality,” she says. “The proportions are extremely important with a short haircut. I wanted to preserve the femininity while still bringing an edge to the look, and using a combination of thinning shears and a razor allowed me to achieve this balance. And of course, we wanted to have fun with it!”
